Dancing in the Rain ©2014 Robert George BMI

We were only seventeen, full of life and magic dreams
On our fourth date at the county fair
There were lots of crazy rides, carousels and waterslides
Cotton candy filled the August air
We got tickets at the stand, then we took each others’ hands
And we hopped on that old Ferris Wheel
Then a summer storm rolled in, on that steamy Georgia wind
Right before I told you how I feel

As we ran back to my Chevy ran began to fall
Then I pulled you closely and the funnest ride of all was…

Dancing in the rain
While the day was growin’ dark
And the lightning in the distance
Turned to thunder in our hearts
And it’s funny how eternal flames
Were sparked by dancing in the rain

And it wasn’t long ago, we were sailin’ ‘cross the snow
On a ski lift out by Santa Fe
Then we went to Disneyland, and we made love in the sand
On secluded beaches near LA

O the sunny sky above us didn’t have a cloud
But as I held you we just reminisced about

Dancing in the rain
While the day was growin’ dark
How the lightning in the foothills
Turned to thunder in our hearts
O it’s funny how eternal flames
Were sparked by dancing in the rain

Girl, I hope our life to come
Will see its share of sun
Yet I know we’ll weather any storm
Because our love was born…

Dancing in the rain
While the day was growin’ dark
And the lightning in the distance
Turned to thunder in our hearts
And it’s funny how eternal flames
Were sparked by dancing in the rain

Superb. Loved the story. These lines stood out to me:
And the lightning in the distance
Turned to thunder in our hearts
