It’s Yesterday Somewhere ©2017 Robert George BMI
Well, it’s way past midnight
And my window frames a misty moon
Mem’ries take me backwards
While shadows crawl across the room
And my hand’s around a bottle
Like the hands of time around my soul
Tomorrow’s growing distant
And the night is growing old
Though she’s prob’ly half a world away by now
I can make the world turn back somehow
She might be in some chic café
On Tortuga Bay
But if I look behind me I will find her there
Cos it’s still yesterday
It’s still yesterday somewhere
There’s a happy picture
By the old clock on the mantelpiece
But the whiskey is afraid,
That photo will soon fade
When the morning rises from the east
And she’s prob’ly half a world away by now
I can make the world turn back somehow
She might be on some Nassau beach
Where my pay can’t reach
But if I look behind me I will find her there
Cos it’s still yesterday
It’s still yesterday somewhere
I look around this empty room
And curse the loneliness I see
Then I rewind, the sad movie of time
And talk her into staying with me
Though I know she’s half a world away by now
I can make the world turn back somehow
She’s prob’ly on some private jet
Far from bills and debt
But if I look behind me I will find her there
Cos it’s still yesterday
It’s still yesterday somewhere
It’s still yesterday somewhere
It’s still yesterday somewhere
Some where
Somewhere….
Well, it’s way past midnight
And my window frames a misty moon
Mem’ries take me backwards
While shadows crawl across the room
And my hand’s around a bottle
Like the hands of time around my soul
Tomorrow’s growing distant
