I wish there was a way
That my soul could reach beyond confining flesh
And behold the hand that keeps each sunrise fresh

I wish there was a way
That my murky faith could pierce this mortal fog
And engage my God in shining dialogue

But that river can’t be crossed
Cos my heart is dark and clouded
O this world is all but lost
And the universe allowed it

I wish there was a way
I could puzzle out this life before my death
Yet still keep the myst’ry that inspires breath
