I didn’t hear you come in
For my thoughts were dark and deep
As a castle keep
My regrets made a lonely din
And I didn’t hear you come in

My soul had become a shell
Just an empty well
Full of nothing but fear and sin
So I didn’t hear you come in
We surround our hearts with fences
Made of things that thrill our senses
I didn’t hear you come in
Even though my eyes were closed
My tears were exposed
You knew where my sorrows had been
But I didn’t hear you come in
Then you came to me
Secretly, silently
In the chamber of my prayer
I could see you there
In that moment my confusion melted
I didn’t hear you come in…I felt it
