The Luxury of LifeMy wife and I were out walkin’, we stopped by some Doug fir treesAnd she pointed at a swallow, in a nest of sticks and leavesIt was his sole possession, plain and simple to the eyeBut when his wings wake up, they come alive with wind and skySo he’s content with his tiny home, who needs more when he ownsThe luxury of lifeThe riches of light and breathAll he could ever need, is found in freedom’s seedBecause he’s been blessed withThe luxury of lifeMy wife and I walked back slowly, to our cabin in the hillsWondering if more possessions, would help us sleep fulfilledWe looked down at the sunset, in the valley far beneathFor a moment that red sun, was a rose in the mountain’s teethGold and silver turn to rust, but heaven had given usThe luxury of lifeThe riches of light and breathAll we could ever need, is found in grace’s seedBecause we’ve been blessed withThe luxury of lifeSome folks think it’s unfair, the sky expands and expandsBut when we die our bones, go back where they beganSuch questions can be excuses, to fill time with empty thingsBut let each day be our sky, with love and faith our wingsIn the luxury of lifewith riches of light and breathAll we could ever need, is found in freedom’s seedBecause we’ve been blessed withThe luxury of life©2007 Robert George
