All Kinds of MoneyHe had a ’57 penny that long ago turned blackHe had a dull, flat nickel, he took off some railroad trackKept washers in his pocket, ‘bout the size of a dimeCos the depot coffee machine, will take ‘em sometimesHad four chips he found by the Indian casino one nightHe’d ante up a hand but you need shoes to get insideThe doorman looked at him like he was some poor dummyWhen the bitter truth was he carried all kinds of moneyFound three quarters that’d buy, some nice warm sticky bunsBut he had an ex in Billings, he hadn’t seen in monthsHe could taste those buns but he made a lonely choiceMade that call but she hung up, soon as she heard his voiceShe’d still love him if he’d only kept his corp’rate jobInstead he blew the whistle on shareholders bein’ robbedFate cost him his fortune cos life is cruel and funnyHe wouldn’t keep quiet though they offered all kinds of moneyNow, it was freezing up north but he could still hop a freightMaybe she’d take him back if she saw his sorry stateWell, many say a penny can’t buy nuthin’ no moreBut he knew there’s one thing they’re still useful forHe thought of that woman, flipped it and it landed “heads”So he headed to the depot, for a cup of Joe insteadCouldn’t afford cream n sugar in the land of milk n honeyIt takes all kinds to make a world, and the world takes all kinds of money©2007 Robert George
