SkywriterI’d just finished dustin’ two fields of tomatoesWhen Bill gave me a banner and fifty bucksDuring halftime at the high school game that weekendHe got on one knee and told Lucy to look upWell, my plane’s getting’ old…I’ve gotta fix the chokeBut Lucy said “yes” when I made a heart with the smokeI’m a skywriterI leave messages in the airCos sometimes a rose ain’t enough to showSomeone that we careBut our feelings deep within, shine a little brighterWhen they’re written in the wind, by a skywriter…a skywriterWell, I circled the town then landed at twilightOn a runway of gopher holes and dirtI caught the first stars sneakin’ out of heavenAnd they spoke to me without spellin’ a wordBut all men can give is thanks, for all that heaven givesThose stars are a sign of love, cos the Good Lord isa skywriterwho leaves messages in the airCos sometimes a rose ain’t enough to showSomeone that we careBut the feelings of His heart, shine a little brighterWhen they’re written in the stars, by a skywriter…skywriterRepeat ch©2007 Robert George
