UsOur porch swing's gentle squeak, the slow caress of August heatas we shared some cool, white winea mountain breeze tip-toed, down our meadow roadand settled in our pinesfrom up around the bend, drifted the fresh, sweet scentof a distant twilight rainbut as the long grass swayed, light began to fadeuntil all that remainedwas us in the heart of the nightwhere passion burns and our spirit meltsand daily cares have places to hideleaving desire and nothing elsebut usin the light evening mist, one thing breaks a kissthat's the promise of more to comewe got up and left the wine, I took your breath in mineinside our shadows were as onethe window was open wide, a soft wind slipped insideand lay across us like a quiltbut your fingers on my skin, found me deep withinand for a moment all I feltwas us in the heart of the nightwhere passion burns and our spirit meltsand daily cares have places to hideleaving desire and nothing elsebut usthe candle by the bedmade dancing silouhettesour sweet and shiny sweatmade us thirsty for morethe bottle we left outsideseemed full of pale moonlightas if somehow the nighthad poured it forus...us...(c)2006 Robert George
