Room For ImprovementGot home from work...slumped in my chairmy little boy was makin' noise chargin' up the stairsand slidin' down the banisterI cursed and then saw his sad eyesdropped to my knee pulled him close to me...apologizedthen snuck him a cookie from the Snoopy canisterthen I went down the hall to my deneven my wife knocks 'fore she comes inshut the door behind meand hoped that hope would find meit's got a bulb on a pull chaincinderblock shelves...cracked windowpaneKing James open to St. Markthat cuts to the core of my heartwhen I'm not happy with who I amit helps me be a stronger manmore than any church or saloonit's my room...my room for improvementI saw Dad's photo soon as I walked inhe's in heaven above but it's still tough facin' himwith the challenges facin' meas a kid I was willful n proudbut as I grew the more Dad knew and even nowit's like he's still raisin' mehis blue eyes seemed to saywe each fall short ev'ry daybut before we can forgive anyone elsewe must first forgive ourselvesyeah, it's got a bulb on a pull chaincinderblock shelves...cracked windowpaneshadows with hearing ears to lendwhen I need to make amendsif I'm not happy with who I amit helps me be a stronger manmore than any church or saloonit's my room...my room for improvementsometimes it's reflectionsometimes it's prayerothers it's the voicesof old mem'ries in thereand through an old photographheaven says we all haveroom for improvementroom for improvement(c)2006 Robert George
