SketchesAll I had, was a pencil and a padto capture her eyes' emerald lightbut sometimes, more than color makes beauty shineand I caught her mystery in black and whiteher chestnut hair and mischievous smileher hunger for an uncharted milethey remain in my sketchesshe'd let chance, draw her life and circumstanceand decide if we would rise or failbut I feared, our love would fade and disappearunless our future was drawn with great detailbut like murky and restless midnight dreamsshe believed life is better seenas a series of sketchesnow her face, is a likeness I can't eraseand I turn to that page again and againblack and white, but I let a bottle each nightfill in the colors of what could've beenwe've grown apart...tomorrow has greyedbut my love still shines in the shadeof my lonely sketches(c)2005 Robert George
