I Could RunI wasn't much good at alot of sportshated the bound'ries of diamonds, fields and courtsbut I'd run five miles through the pines from my schoolmy shadow had trouble keeping up with my shoesso coach put me in track and even let me starthe said although, I had no arm to throw I had wind in my heartyeah, I could runand just keep goingget pretty farwithout slowing downthe future'd keep me forever youngcos as fast as I could runyesterday couldn't run me downwhen my scholarship died I took work pumping gassometimes it spilled as I watched semis going pastthen Dad got me on driving bobcats long and lateI'd load my dreams on those trucks along with those cratesone day I bid Dad goodbye and just drove awayit hurt my folks, their hearts were broke I didn't have the heart to staywhen I could runand just keep goingget really farwithout slowing downthe future'd keep me forever youngcos as fast as I could runyesterday couldn't run me downtravel for its own sake is just a treadmillI kept running but somehow stood stilltill I went home and asked for forgivenesswent back pumping gas till I saved uptold dad driving my own truckwas both my dream and a businessI could runand just keep goingget pretty farwithout slowing downthe future'd keep me forever youngcos as fast as I could runyesterday couldn't run me downyeah, I could runI could run(c)2005 Robert George
