Doesn't seem to support what's happening on screen at all
I haven't entered I am 9 tracks into a 10 track album for a Library which has a deadline of month end but if you want to hear some stuff I've done that has been used on TV it's here.gabgar wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 2:03 pmhttps://www.spitfireaudio.com/westworld/cosmicdolphin wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 9:23 amDoesn't seem to support what's happening on screen at all
After you post your submission, provide a link.
I'm curious how you'd approach it.
Gabgar, kudos for writing something for this competition. Hundreds if not thousands have also thrown their hat into the ring. Good luck! There has been much discussion around various forums as what is the right approach to scoring an action scene like this: Which events to hit, when to begin the chase sequence, when to dial it down for dialogue, etc. There is no one right answer.gabgar wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 9:15 pmMy entry in the Westworld Scoring Competition

You don't need to use a Spitfire Audio either, although they have a instrument called LABS which is free.
Ted, I'm not sure if these are two different edits. I don't have access to the longer version to compare frame-by-frame. I've heard some people mention the frame rates are different. The 4:06 version if 25 fps. Not sure what the other is, maybe 24.97, something like that?Ted wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 3:09 pmSteve, that's a pretty nice score. I can tell you put some time into it.
One weird thing that I noticed, after watching about a hundred entries... Maybe a third of the entries ( like yours) have a running time of about 4:05 whereas maybe the other 2/3rds have a running time of about 4:17 (like mine does). Same video, but based on the sound of the dialogue track-- the voices in the shorter ones sound noticably higher, slightly chipmunky in pitch while the longer videos have more normal sounding voices to me. I wonder if it's something to do with the frame rate selection when importing the video or maybe it has something to do with the choice of DAW, I have no idea. I can especially notice with guy's voice at the end when he says "Why the **** are we stopping?!?" he sounds like a kid from South Park in the shorter videos.
Anyway, Good luck.
Steve, I like a lot of the thematic material in your piece and also the percussion stuff. More and more I've been trying to create percussion parts manually as opposed to relying on drum loops. It will be very interesting to see what they deem to be the "perfect" composition for this scene.steveprobst wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 7:12 am
Steve, I believe you nailed the emotion and vibe needed in yours, for sure.
I've always wanted to try something like this and gave it a shot for practice. It was a creative rush for me. The weapons seemed to be a percussion instrument all their own. I went hog wild with drums. lol (One of my drums hits didn't play when bouncing, but I didn't notice till too late.)
Steve, great job on your score. It wasn't too minimalistic and it wasn't too bombastic either. Great choice of sounds throughout.steveprobst wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 7:12 amYes, kudus for giving it a shot Gabgar!

....how in the heck did you embed YouTube video here?![]()
Cool Steve. I have the dumbek on Logic Arpeggiator as well my "Zimmer tick" thing, but the rest I pounded out by hand on the keys. It's quite a mess lolstevebarden wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:34 amSteve, I like a lot of the thematic material in your piece and also the percussion stuff.
