Apple finally officially approved my artist page on Ping, which IMHO is the most useless new social network. But I do think that over time it will become important. If you're trying out Ping and want to connect with me, give me a shout here:

Or here?? Still trying to figure how to directly link to my profile (Come on Apple!)

Yes, getting approved is a pain. I sent in an application directly to Apple almost the day Ping was announced. I still haven't heard anything from that. I did some research and found out that www.tunecore.com has a streamlined way of getting you in if you distribute an album through them. So I put one together and used their site to distribute it. Once that album went live, one day!, you fill out a spreadsheet that they send to Apple. Apparantly Apple knows that Tunecore artist's are legit somehow and they get expidited. A day after I sent in the spreadsheet Apple sent me an approval email with a link to setup the account. Pretty darned easy.

Not sure if other companies that distribute music to iTunes have a similar relationship, but I used Tunecore to pull this off.
