I thought I'd share this with you. I write poetry as well as music and lyrics and I find great inspiration from poetry.

The Artist

Brushes his cold, wet nose with fingers
Brave, Courageous, he ploughs the rain
Children in the sheltered shadows
Sigh, Chuckle, ''There he goes again''

To the Artist sound is absent, occupied with thoughts
Some wild, tamed, it makes his brain itchy
Writing, thinking, akin to poisonous alcohol
One, Two, four verse, ok now he's tipsy
Time to take the dog for a walk

all of my songs sound the same

I bought a guitar at the swap meet
I finally would enter the game
my mother came home and she smashed it to bits
now all of my songs sound the same

I got a guitar from my grandpa
and wanted to cause him no shame
but I knew no rancheros and only three chords
now all of my songs sound the same

I brought my guitar to a party
and banged it to drunken acclaim
why would I trade what had gotten me laid?
now all of my songs sound the same

My guitar it was wrecked in a car crash
I'm lucky I wasn't struck lame
The settlement covered the doctor
just barely
now all of my songs sound the same

My guitar brought me the treasures and powers
that vanished as fast as they came
They now are just stains
on the walls of my brain
now all of my songs sound the same

I hocked my guitar for mere pennies
so I wouldn't be out in the rain
I knew there's no way it would ever forgive me
now all of my songs sound the same

My guitar mostly stands in the corner, now
projecting accusal and blame
Mundaning, migraining, I'm always complaining
and all of my songs sound the same

My guitar and I have an arrangement
I haven't the juice to explain
and now my dearest wish
is to just disappear
and all of my songs sound the same

Great poem burpo, loved the repetition, the use of imagery, as a musician and an artist, I can really connect with it.
