Hi Everyone..
Relatively new to Taxi.Have submitted to a few listings with not much success..was hoping if some of you had the chance today to listen to the tunes on my page and let me know what you think. It would be greatly appreciated!!!!....please feel free to be as honest as you would like...I have a feeling that some of the problems lie on the production/ recording side..not my strong suit...along those lines I would definitely be open to collab on production/writing/recording etc.....My primary instrument is trumpet and there are examples of my playing on my page..( BOPPIN, DEEDLES THROUGH THE DOOR, SLOW DAY)..additionally I play piano...would love to hook up with guitarist!!.....THX FOR YOUR TIME ...TIM

production/recording seems fine to me. but i'm no expert on that part. liked "joplin for joy". but i'd might call it "jump for joy" :P would have liked to hear it as a song with a bubbly female vocal. :)

Glad I bumped into you.

You clearly have really good composition skills and you're obviously a good trumpet player too. And yes, you're right, production is your next hurdle. Sorry to say (but I think you know it already) but MIDI is so out of fashion right now that your backing tracks will almost always reduce your chances of getting forwards in these genres, unlike electronica, of course, which can be almost totally machine-based. Trust me, I know this to be true from personal experience. If you go searching online you'll find loads of free and/or royalty-free samples for drums that will instantly improve your chances.

Incidentally, you should know that you're at the wrong party – not much happens in Collaboration Corner. You should be on the Peer-to-peer forum, where you'll get loads of advice on every aspect of your work from a whole slew of great people, many of whom I know personally, and who will help you improve on a daily basis. I suggest that, rather than asking people to listen to all your stuff at once, you ask a couple of specific questions about one track per post – that way people will be much more likely to respond, and you'll get some killer tips. Oh, and let us know your name too! See you over there soon, I hope.

Cheers,
Nick
