Male Vocals for Folk-ish Song

Hey everyone,

I have a song I'm in need of male vocals for. People have told me the harmonies make it a little country sounding. I'm no singer but I did the best I could to get the idea across. You can hear the demo track on my Taxi page below. It's called Years Away. I'm a synth player and would be happy to return the favor on something of yours.

Thanks
Joel

Joel, the page won't load. I believe it's a generic Taxi faux-pas at present. Can you post the song somewhere else?

Should I repost this without the scratch vocals? Are people getting hung up on that not so great vocal performance?

Thought I might be able to help you on this, Joel, but it's not really my kinda thing.

FWIW, I think your harmonies on it are fine – maybe just redo the lead with a stronger voice...

Thanks Nick and I totally understand it not being your thing. This style actually isn't mine either. Unfortunately that's about the best I could sing it.
I was hoping other musicians here could look past that because it's there to get the idea across and obviously I wouldn't be in need of a singer if the vocals were already great. Guess I'd be better off playing the melody on piano or something.
Catch 22 I guess.

Its a good song Joel. Your voice isn't so bad, I wouldn't put yourself down too far. I can see that a great singer could lift it up a notch.

I'm sorry I can't help in this regard. If you can't find someone to swap services with you, you may have to hire a singer from somewhere like sound better.com or studio pros or some such.

Either way you could post this in peer to peer with the lyrics attached to the soundcloud page. That way you might get some feedback lyric wise before you shell out the reddies on a vocalist. Not saying the lyrics aren't fine, just didn't focus right in on them. Thats where a lyric sheet helps. Who knows, you may get someone who'll sing it from putting it up on p2p. You never know.
