Remix a Christmas Song (Professionally Recorded)

Hello,

Here is what gave me the idea to come onto the forums and reach out to find a remixer/producer talent.

I wrote & recorded a Christmas song for the request about a month ago for a “classic sounding Christmas song” for a TV commercial. It can be found on my Taxi page and is called “We’ve Got Christmas Right Here.” It is upbeat, joyful, and classic sounding (production-wise). It was recorded in a professional studio and mixed by the staff engineer. It was not forwarded due to mixing issues, mainly.

I've since noticed there have been about 3 more Christmas song requests. The thought hit me today: Is there someone in Taxi who can remix this song to match a pitch request that comes in? Likewise, if necessary, I could “re-cut” any elements (especially vocals) if necessary to modify & match this song for any upcoming Christmas song requests.

Another idea is that it could probably go a few ways if the remixer knows how to change drums (I love drums and they set the tone like nothing else – retro drums, hip hop sounding drums – the song can vary a lot with a simple change like this). Again, if necessary, I could easily re-cut the vocals to match a few styles as well (soulful vocals, modify the lyrics a bit if necessary, etc.).

If you are interested, listen to the song on my Taxi page “We’ve Got Christmas Right Here.” Then link me to your work so I can hear if we’re in the same ballpark skill/experience wise. We can take it from there if there is a match.

Thank you.

Hi.
Just curious - there are two versions of this on your TAXI page - which one did you submit, and want mix help with?
Listening to the (simple vocal) version as I type this. Certainly there's a lack of clarity and space with the percussion.
Wish I had 'DIY'/home recording gear that I could take a shot at a remix 'for free' - but I don't have that luxury.

Are you looking for a collaborative effort from a fellow TAXI member - or possibly a WFH?
If it's the latter, send me a PM to discuss some possibilities.

Cheers.

i really like this tune, it's fun and catchy. what really puts me off here is the dated sounding vocal, i think you need to hire a more contemporary singer to get the most out of it.

Thank you both very much for you insight and replies (I was away for a few days). You gave me food for thought, specifically...I need to think about what direction to take this song.

IF JUST A REMIX: Peter, I think a WFH is probably the best way to go. The drums were recorded outside the pro studio at a home studio, so probably the weakest link (but certainly can be mixed more up front, and there is another, more complicated drum take that wasn't mixed in that could possibly be used for embellishment).

IF A TOTAL REHAUL: Melodymessiah, re vocals, the aim was to sound "classic" Christmas (sort of Michael Buble), so I agree, the vocals are dated sounding and could be a whole different song with a new singer. But I think it would need way more than that (updated lyrics, electronic drums, different instruments - everything).

Let me think about it, and thanks again.

If you want a real drum track for your production, I can help get that for you - by a 3rd party/WFH, if you want that sort of help and need the resource.
Cheers.

yeah, i also think the whole production needs to be upgraded, it all sounds very rough and monotonously piano clunking all the way. maybe also include some christmas sounds. i would also consider writing a bridge, for some variation. as i said, i really like this tune, if i were a skilled producer i'd be more than happy to help you out. i wish you the best of luck with it.
