Looking for a producer/mixer type to collaborate/partner with.

Hi!
I’d be interested in potentially collaborating with a producer/recording engineer type of individual who would be strong in areas I am weak. I’m off the road at the moment, as I have a son who has autism and am expecting to be home schooling him for the next 4 years. It would be really convenient for me to write/compose music from home in this period for income. I also LOVE writing! It’s my favourite thing to do.
Skills I have:
-I’m a lifelong guitarist and have played in cover bands since I was a teenager. With my last gig, “Signal Hill” I performed over 200 times a year for several years.
-I sing. At my best I have a Paul Simon/Tom Petty/John Lennon mix of a voice, but in general my voice is not gonna knock anyones socks off and I don’t know how to mix it properly. I’m still trying to figure out how to make it work for me. I can however sing in key, and I don’t use tuning on my voice when I record. I loath the sound of that.
-I was always really interested in songwriting, but only did it with bands. About 7-8 years ago I thought I’d take matters in to my own hands and try to learn to write on my own. It was a humbling experience. Just because you are experienced in one area doesn’t mean you will automatically be great in a new area. Most everything I did was bad to start, but at some point I noticed a change. My songs went from bad to good and I almost always like what I write these days even if it’s not marketable, or recorded properly, and just artistic. Good is okay, but I really want to write great ones. When I’m fired up, I can write a song a day, sometimes more if I have time. So, I can write songs. I can also compose with a guitar for cues but I have only a little experience with midi sounds. I’m more interested in songwriting that writing cues but I’ll do whatever pays the bills
-I have basic recording, engineering, arrangement, drum programming, production, and mixing skills. I’m working with a UAD Apollo twin, Logic Pro, & Superior drummer. I have a C414 as my main mic. Have a few other cheaper pics but nothing super good.
Skills I don’t have or need
-Pro level production and mixing. For example I don’t know how to make a vocal track sound great, or sit in a mix properly etc. I’m more interested in focusing on the writing. I could easily write a song, record it with acoustic guitar and separate vocal track, and then send the stems to someone and build it/tweak it from there.
-I’m not good at marketing. I think I’m probably autistic too. It’s really hard for me to connect with people. In a perfect world I’d be able to work with someone who is good at this and would handle it. Perhaps someone who has been able to get music signed already or who has forwards. Maybe an independent label?
—An additional note on social media. I have very little social presence at the moment. I have an x account that I never bothered to use until recently. I did some posts and jumped from 39 followers to 1600. There’s videos of me doing a few sort of anti Trump tunes that got a pretty good response. So that’s a way you can hear me doing the acoustic thing, and also see I have at least some appeal. Some years ago before I joined “Signal Hill’ I had a Facebook fan page. I was posting new songs as I was writing them, and my follower count got up to 17000 people. In an anti social autistic moment I deleted the account at some point. There were people on there interested in what I was doing every day. I was getting interview requests and gig requests. I had a couple of people want me to fly to the USA to play. This was based off of the acoustic guitar approach. I’m only saying this so I think there is some demand there if I could get the music together and figure out what the hell I’m doing. Lol. I have YouTube but didn’t use it for years. I posted a few things recently and now have a whopping 14 followers. This is the long winded way of me articulating I need major help in this area.
If you look me up on Spotify or Apple Music (David Caines), you will find I have 3 records, but not in the acoustic style; they are more heavy/hard rock. Hypothalamusic 1 & 2, and also a Newfoundland music themed record called “Hit’s from the Rock”
So, if you’re a producer/mixer/label/pitcher type looking to work with someone like me, I’d love to get a DM from you. Maybe we could try one song and see how it goes? I would consider a 50/50 split with the right person. I’m able to reverse engineer songs for writing as well.
I think I l have a lot of skills and talent, but can’t seem to get anywhere just on my own. Definitely open to collaboration!
All the best and good luck!
Dave
PS. There is no way I will be able to attend the road rally this year, but perhaps next year!
