Beginners MIDI Keyboard

Hey all,
I'm looking to get my good friend a surprise MIDI keyboard for christmas and I was thinking about the NOvation Launchkey MKIII Mini?
I read great things about it and it seems affordable. He's new to production, so I figured this would be great?
