Help Please. Replacing my aging performance synth

My Roland JV-90 (1994) is aging. (I have two... one for replacement parts.) And now It's time to replace this Axe I've been using for stage and studio now for over 15 years.

The reason I've been in love with this keyboard for so long is for some features I use -and I mean USE- for performing on stage. This synth lets me set 8 internal and 8 external zones per performance patch. These zones aren't "keyboard split points," but overlappable zones.

So I am looking for a keyboard with the capability of setting up performance patches with overlapping zones, both internal and external (MIDI.) The more the better. I've found some with 4x4 but that just won't do.

Also important to me is:
Must have 76 keys or more.
Polyphany, the more the better.
Price, my range is $1000 - $4000

I would also consider a controller that sends 16 zones (I have plenty of outboard units and soft-synths) as long as it can save and recall performance patches at the touch of a button.

My search is frustrating.... then suddenly it hit me... there's GOT to be someone here in this forum who knows what I am looking for or can at least point me to a good resource.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the Korg Kronos. It is not in stores yet, but there is plenty of information available by a Google search.

Korg is also doing a road show. They be stopping at a store near you.

You should probably look at the MOTIF line. I'm thinking you can set up 4 instruments per zone and quite a few zones. I'm thinking THAT would get pretty deep to play but I believe the machine will do it. Not only that but you can take the entire interface out to a laptop for roadwork AND the whole keyboard can act as a VI within your DAW over firewire. Pretty cool!

Good Luck!
