Just tried Izotope Stutter edit on a piece I'm working on. Very excellent piece of gear.

What I like is that the effects are triggered by midi notes and last as long as you hold it down so there's a lot of playability. I didn't dig into the editing yet but the presets are pretty well done. It will be a challenge to avoid over use at first!!! like any tool and instrument practice and some taste will provide the best results.

Recommended for electronic music producers.

Yeah, I tried the demo and really liked it too. It's very high on my shortlist. I'm looking ot use it for contemporary pop productions as well as for breaking up and add intrest to cont. rock instrumentals.

cool product. Dubstep is HOT right now. This is what I'm gathering from a few writing gigs I have. Stutter should be able to help with that!

I don't write Electronic music very often, but it might be a neat tool to incorporate into my work, and give it a fresh, modern twist.

Stutter Edit is great but for someone just starting down this road it's very pricey considering what else is around.

Worth checking out are...

Sugar Bytes - Effectrix and Turnado - very simple, playable and powerful
Twisted Tools - Buffeater and Rolodecks (Reaktor ensembles) - deeply editable, not as intuitive as others, requires Reaktor
Audio Damage - Replicant - great for slicing and beat mashups but limited in the range of what it does
Illformed - Glitch (not available on Mac) - free

I have all of these bar Turnado. Buffeater, Rolodecks and Replicant were all heavily used in a recent percussion album I did for a library. Wish I'd had Effectrix at the time.

Effectrix in particular is just over half the price of Stutter Edit, has an entire rack of effects which are programmable and playable live via the inbuilt step sequencer, or automatable. Paint in, move, resize or delete steps on the fly with the mouse making it excellent for live as well as studio use. All effects have editable parameters. Create up to 12 presets which are triggered by midi. Hit the chaos button for randomising. Very low CPU footprint. It couldn't be easier to use and produces incredible results. For a very powerful, electronica all-rounder, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Yep, Stutter Edit is pretty awesome. I got it pretty much day one and don't regret it. IL Gross Beat is solid too but way harder to use, while dblue Glitch is nice for free, but again a little tricky to program.
