Yeah, I read that article. The only one I have is Mojo and I was underwhelmed by it.

+1 on Samplemodeling and Cinebrass. They both work great for me.

and I did the demo of Arturia Brass some time ago and I was very underwhelmed. I guess it took more to make it sound like something that I was prepared to spend on it.

I have Mojo too, and a have seen several reviews praising the library. I think there is potential "under the hood", I just haven't figured out how to coax it out of the library.

I likewise saw that article...when I saw that neither Samplemodeling or Cinebrass were included, it lost a heck of a lot of credibility with me...
Perhaps they don't advertise in Keyboard?

I'm sure politics had everything to do with it... but you guys aren't the ones who are in need of this info... it gives the composer who has little idea where to begin but then again so does asking!

What blew my mind are the prices of some of that sh!t in lieu of the quality...

Surely. I have heard that the broadway big band collection is pretty well done an extensive on articulations and such, but I guess for $2200.00 it should be. !

True Andy, but if it's geared towards people who 'little idea where to begin' wouldn't it be even more important that they are presented with *all* the viable options?
Keyboard used to be a magazine that provided the most thorough, complete and hard hitting reviews. Sadly, not anymore...

You're absolutely right. I too have little use for Keyboard Magazine or Guitar Player Magazine for that matter (even though I was in the January 2009 issue!).
They've been diluted by all the advertising commitments they've prostituted themselves with (gosh... I hope Michael doesn't read this! ), but then again, what hasn't? After all, we as composers even sell out for the money... but, I don't have any hang-ups about it.
As a matter of fact... I have to re-new my subscription to Musical Pimp Magazine. It's $75 for one pleasure-filled hour....$500 for an all-nighter (of reading that is).
