Hey everyone,

Has anyone else tried the VSC-2 compressor plugin? Is it just me or is this really good for a plugin... seriously good. I tried the demo and I was shocked when I dropped it onto the main.

Does it sound like the real one? .. who cares so long as it sounds good!!.. but here is a quote for those that do care..

Since the actual Vertigo VSC-2 is a $6,000 compressor I'll take their word for it... to a point. But that compressor sounds friggin great.

Btw, I've tried the demo of the Elysia Alpha (mastering comp) and that thing is really good too, but a lot more complicated AND it's pretty transparent IF that's what you're after. That actual unit is $10,000... jeeez... I think the Vertigo VSC-2 just has a certain appeal and ease of use when it's used on the main (2buss) whatever we're supposed call it... I call it, using it as the mastering compressor haha.

I'm just not sure if it's as good as I think it is so I felt like asking around about it and at the same time I personally think it is SO dang good that I wanted to tell you all about it. I get nothing for telling you all about it... other then tougher competition haha.

Anyway, check it out and let me know what ya think... I am curious if everyone else will be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

Right, I've got the demo. Yes, VERY musical sounding, very smooth. I'm impressed!

It sounded insanely good when I tried the parallel compression trick on the drums...

I knew it wasn't just me... that compressor plugin is amazing isn't it? So good that my selfish side didn't want to post this lol. It has a quality rarely found in a plugin, imho.

A word on nomenclature, "bus compressor" is probably the more useful term, as it applies to compressing more than one instrument/track at a time, which is what you're doing by strapping it across the two-mix or a stereo bus; the same goes for a mastering situation, though dedicated mastering compressors will tend to have stepped controls, in the hardware realm. Thanks for the tip.
