Sounds great on the page. Is is like that in your experience? Is it easy to use? does it sound lifelike if you actually have to sit there and program it?

I am thinking the funk / jazz kind of stuff. Not so much the orchestral bag although I guess it would be cool for layering.

Another angle: if you had limited funds and couldn't swing the sample modeling big band bundle, would this catch your eye?

no worries. I took the plunge. its not bad.

I would recommend trying to add the SampleModeling horns one at a time. They are so expressive that just one of them added to a sampled horn section will give it some extra "life".

If I were going to do it over (I have all but the Soprano Sax at this point), knowing what I know now I'd do:

1. Trumpet 2. Bone 3. Tenor

Then if you are doing orchestral music you might consider substituting the amazing French Horn before the Tenor but for pop stuff, the first three would give you a great section. Then you could eventually go with the Alto/Bari combo.

The beautiful thing about the SM stuff is that it works well in both orchestral and pop settings.

I think you're on your way. There's just too much good stuff out there, but the SampleModeling stuff stands above it all, IMO.
