Picked up the Neumann KM 184 at West LA Music (they liquidated . . . bought out) for a serious discount. This mic is amazing . .

How much are these? Are they worth the extra savings compared to.. say Rode NT5's?

The only thing better than a KM 184 is a stereo pair of them! It's an awesome mic!

Which polar capsule did it come with? Man, I would love a matched pair for overheads and other acoustic instruments, and then some Neve 1076s to go with them! or vintech : )

You can come close with Rode NT5s, but the difference (approx 3dB shelving around 5kHz) is more than worth the price. (the Neumanns have a smidge more presence)

The KM-184 is the cardiod version..... I don't care as much for them as overheads as I do a pair of AKG C541s with CK1 capsules... I am sure that is a personal taste thing though.........LOL

Oh yeah ok, 183, 185 are the others I think. I have been using nothing but 414s for overheads lately

Yea 414s are great, I have a pair of the B-ULS models, very neutral sounding !!
