Do any VSTs work with Logic Pro X running on the new Big Sur OS?
I'm specifically looking for a drum plug-in. I tried downloading Steven Slate and Native Instruments free VSTs
to see if they would work but they didn't. The plugin-in GUI box is empty.

Ni works, I have Logic. You can always go on the website of a company and look for compatibility with Big Sur update and see which plugins are updated to work.
