Hi there, I just want to say I just finished watching the Jan 7, 2019 Taxi TV (I watch the YouTube version after the air date), and must say, this episode was full of TONS of great tips. Don't be misled by the title "How to Sing the Indie Vocal Style". There is SO MUCH in this episode related to the following:
- Indie Vocal (obviously that subject is covered)
- Performance tips
- Handling Stage Fright
- How to Really Get Into Your Songs when onstage (what to think about before, during, and after a performance)
- What saps your energy/helps your energy levels related to "live" performance
- Much much more, too numerous to list

Afterwards I went to his website & purchased the practice CD. I've been using a great practice session for years now, and needed to upgrade, so perfect timing on that. Apparently this man is a world-renowned vocal coach, and it really shows.

What a privilege to belong to Taxi. No other music licensing business offers so much support to their artists. Thank you Michael Laskow and Steven Memel for this great episode and information, as I for one have been seriously enriched by it today.

I took a lot of notes from that episode. Loved it!

The remaining question Im left with is that because indie vocals is such a broad term, and the examples covered in the episode sounded primarily to me like indie pop, so I wonder how much of this applies to indie rock as well.

But I can use the notes from the episode for my own analysis of course. It was very helpful.

The talk about the psychology of drive and energy was very intriguing!
