Taxi First Year Report Card
Posted: Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:30 pm
D-Day, June 6th was my Taxi 1st year anniversary. Perhaps I could consider it my allied invasion of the film and TV music business, although I am not quite sure if it is a war, or if I am winning or not…
I have read several annual reports from other composers and found them helpful in gauging my progress writing for Film and TV opportunities, so I would like to do the same if it can help others.
Born and raised in the Washington, DC area, I have a FT job on Capitol Hill and a family with three older children. I write when I have time and even when I don’t, often sacrificing sleep in order to complete cues. It has been an interesting year and I have learned a great deal about this field of music. My writing for film has improved greatly in the last year by studying the excellent TAXI member composers, watching TAXI TV, and drinking Rockstar energy drink.
My first-year stats:
144 submissions
46 forwards
80+ Cues written this year
Several covers recorded
6 Cues signed to libraries
? Placements
I had no idea I wrote and submitted that many. I have been following the write-submit-forget-repeat mantra, so I haven’t looked back until now. Maybe this review was helpful for me. I probably need to slow down and spend more time on the quality of the cues to get my licensed cue numbers up. I also plan to attend the Rally this year to tap into some of that exponential Lasko knowledge.
I am still enjoying this TAXI ride.
Love, Peace, and Hair Grease to all.
