Example of a Quickie: deadline -> forward -> deal in 3 days

Hey everyone, as I'm sure we all know, this business can move SLOW sometimes. But every now and then something happens with super speed.

I recently sent in 2 hip hop songs for the following listing. The deadline was Friday February 4. Just last night (Monday February 7) I got notification of forwards for both songs from Taxi. And less than two hours after that, the company reached out to me wanting to sign both tracks. So, from deadline to deal offer in less than three days! This is rather rare, though it does happen more than you'd think.

If you wanna listen, here are the songs:

And here was the listing:
CONTEMPORARY HIP-HOP SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Music Licensing Company that specializes in music for content creators as well as TV shows and Film projects!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Company would love to add some Songs with Female Vocals to their roster – obviously, they'd love to hear killer tracks with Male Vocals, as well; but if you're a Female rapper, they'd especially like to hear what you've got!

Please submit slick Hip-Hop Songs with catchy hooks, great beats, solid arrangements, and tons of great energy and personality. Confident, well-performed vocals with a healthy dose of attitude and swagger are a must for this request, as well. Please be sure that your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use are polished, high-quality, and modern.

P.S. as always, much gratitude and love to my co-writers (Brendan, Owen, and Troi), and of course Taxi for delivering these opportunities to us!!

Great Tracks Matt, and a nice swift turnaround, so congratulations all-round to you and your collaborators. Its nice to get an early start to the momentum, and I hope your placements roll in fast too.

Coincidentally, I submitted a track to a library (not a Taxi listing) on Monday morning, got acceptance notification within 2 hours, submitted the alts later that day, then received notification that it was published the next day - 24hrs to complete! It feels rewarding when it works out like that, especially compared with waiting for more than 2.5 years for foreign royalties to come through .

Yeah saw them in the forwards blog👍
There's been some quick turn around with HipHop tracks lately, doubt it has to do with the genre, but still interesting. Very cool Matt!

Well, you are Matt freaking Vanderboegh, so I'm not surprised. ;) How long did it take you to crank out that track with Owen?

Thanks everyone! And haha, thanks Paulie! I can't remember how long it took us to make Owen's song.... honestly, it had been sitting on my computer unsigned for nearly a year now. Glad it's finally getting it's shot at making us money.
