Maybe not a success-story yet, but...

So, I have been a member for almost two years now. After loads of returns, I finally got a forward almost a year ago which resulted in the signing of three tracks to a great library. The relationship I have developed with the owner, who is a really great guy on one of the road rally panels, have now resulted in me writing a whole album for them.

At the same time, I contacted another library outside of Taxi - pitching some other tracks that was returned by Taxi. And they ended up asking for a whole album as well, with these tracks and five new ones.

What this has shown me, is that it isn't just about the actual forwards and potential signings. It's also about the process leading up to them: learning the craft, using the returns to develop, and also that a return doesn't imply that the music is unusable. It just wasn't the right music for that specific listing. Because I wouldn't have been able to do any of this, if it wasn't for the fact that I have had to raise my game, learn new skills and just as important, learn to compose for new genres.

Maybe my experiences can also inspire new members. And hey, I recently got another forward without hearing anything from the library. But that song won't go in the bin. It'll just be sitting there, ready for the next opportunity.

Cheers, Jan-Henrik

ABSOLUTELY 100% right! THAT is EXACTLY it! 8-)
I hope everyone sees your post.

Congratulations on your success too! It IS success, because you've cracked open the doors and started building relationships, so please don't underestimate that.
Best of luck to you! :)

I agree... that's success! It's more about the process than the outcome. Maybe your tunes will get placed in TV/Film and maybe they won't. You don't have much control over that. But you got them into the game, and set yourself up to do more of the same. You created something that didn't exist before, and maybe it will become useful to someone making art/entertainment. Success!
Congrats,

vn

Thank you guys, for your positive and generous respons! Entering TAXI has really challenged me to put my musical ego aside, and focus on the requests of the clients. That has taken time to be able to do, after just writing songs about my own feelings for some 20 years. But also very exciting and rewarding :-)
