Taxi Rally Contacts came through!

There’s a couple things that happened for me this week because of the Rally and I have a couple questions for the veterans.
1. I met someone and received a confirmation email from a veteran in the business who wants to collaborate on a holiday album in Q1 Or Q2 2025.
2. Just received an email from a library and they want me to make a 12 song album for them.
I started with Taxi in February and so far it would appear the best thing you can do is go to the Road Rally.
A couple questions for the vets about the library deal.
1. This is my first library so I know I don’t have much option for negotiations. But they’re asking for 12 tracks, 1.5-2 minutes long. Exclusive in perpetuity. We haven’t talked any further than the offer email. I’m just wondering if this seems fairly standard and should I not worry about giving all the rights away forever?
2. I’m thinking about how to respond. I was going to ask if they wanted all the tracks to have certain moods.
Anything else you vets can think of to be considered?

Congrats, man! That's the power and beauty of the Road Rally, right there!!! Stories like this happen as a result of the Rally all the time, yet so many people still say, "I'll go next year....". Anyway, not to derail this comment on a tangent, lol. SUPER COOL for you!!!! I hope you are celebrating, as this is a pretty big thing to have happen in your first 9 months with Taxi.
The exclusive in-perpetuity deal is very standard. I sign these deals all the time. My advice would be to not be precious with your music or worry about giving things away forever..... just sign the tracks away, hope for the best, and make more music immediately. Load 'em up and see what happens.
My other piece of advice - which you'd already hinted to - is not to negotiate. These deals are standard and nothing to be worried about, but if you're uncomfortable then simply say "no thanks" and hope for something else to come along. But at an early stage in your career, you're going to get the default contract offer, which is what everybody will get unless you've really been doing this for decades and have a little more pull. Asking for negotiation points will scream "newbie" and might scare the library off.

2. If the mood of the tracks was not discussed, then it does not hurt to ask them to clarify what they are looking for. In fact, better figure out all the details at the beginning stage so you will not need doing unnecessary back and forth later
