Contract on already signed instrumental

Hi there,I have a problem - which is a good one in this case - and need some advice.A music library contacted me concerning a specific instrumental they want to sign. I signed it already exclusively with another library. The exclusive contract is only for the specific reording. So actually I could re-record it and sign another deal?I'd feel better on doing a whole new song in the same feel/style and have that signed with the 2nd company.Any experiences on that? This would be my 2nd deal after 9 month on 19th songs...Taxi shure works! Thanks,Walter

hi walter, congrats on the deal offer!I was you, I'd simply tell the second company that this track already is signed but that you write another tune in the same vein for them (..plus some more tracks, of course....;))I had this situation several times and it never was a problem. just be honest & inform transparent, and deliver what you promised.hth, martin

Congratulations, Walter! You have what's referred to as a "high class" problem.I concur with Martin, just be upfront with the client and let them know that you're so popular that everybody wants your creative genius! They will probably ask you to create something very similar. What a problem to have! All the best,Steve
