Also part of the "Extreme Sports" production deal :-)

It's taken me a while to piece together what this deal actually is. It's an "extreme sports" video production/sales company (they produce/sell/market extreme sports videos... snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, etc... but not curling. Curling is not yet an extreme sport
). Anyway they are apparently building a repository of music for their film makers to use. There are no upfront fees (like MTV) but nobody is taking away any backend royalties... not even publishing. So... composers/writers that have music placed into videos that wind up under the umbrella of BMI/ASCAP/etc PRO royalties will collect both the writer's and the publisher's share, just like getting music placed directly by a music supervisor. It's non-exclusive and because they're a pretty specialized deal, just offering the music to their film makers... they won't be pitching the music to the "regular" sources (like tv shows) so having that same music in other places (like a "regular" non-exclusive library) won't cause any potential conflicts. Best of all worlds it seems.
Pretty cool!
