Dead horse for some of you, but I signed @ Rally...

Hey! Those of you who are Facebook &/or Twitter buddies of mine too already know this, so I'm sorry for the repeat content.
But I realized that for the sake of those who didn't attend the Rally, I wanted to add my name to the list of folks who signed deals there. Point is, if you haven't gone to a Rally, you owe it to yourself to start saving for November 2011.
I'm not saying you'll sign a deal; I'm saying you'll witness an amazingly positive experience. And amazingly generous people. Who's generous? Well, read on.
For those who didn't already hear my jump-up-and-down news, I was among 10 or so composers who signed at this year's Rally with "Mr. Daytime TV" who already has "dozens of TAXI members under his roof." This is the same man who at the 2009 Rally sat for a crazy number of hours doing drive-by mentor sessions on Saturday night. I was one of the probably 70 or so people he spoke with (I really don't think I'm exaggerating there); I waited for two hours to see him. Poor guy was exhausted. But he took time to talk to me. And after listening, he took my CD. A year later, I'm on his roster.
There is a generosity of spirit at the Rally like nothing you've ever seen in this business.
Go. To. The. Rally.

Same thing happened to me! I got signed with Mr. Daytime TV as a result of being at the 2009 Rally -- and at this year's Rally, I had the pleasure of wearing "the big button" (courtesy of Mr. Daytime TV) and hanging out with my fellow Big Button-eers (don't worry; it makes sense if you were at the Rally)!
Taxi Rallies are AMAZING for soooooooo many reasons (too numerous to list) -- but especially for taking a serious stand for developing one's career as a composer. Best thing is, at the same time you get to cultivate generous, loving, heart-felt relationships with fellow composers and industry folks -- and you get to learn first hand why so many long-time music industry veterans LOVE what they do.
It's a FUN profession if you're hanging out with folks who are in it for the right reasons -- and from my experience at the last two Rally's, it's obvious Taxi is a magnet for people who are in the business because they LOVE it!
Doesn't get much better than that! Thanks, Michael Laskow, for setting the tone for/ holding the vision for this amazing community of musical cohorts! I feel so lucky to be a part of it!
Suz
P.S. Spreadsheets. Oy!

What an experience for you. Well done and keep on truckin'.
We had the most memorable experience at our first TAXI and our first trip to the USA. Such friendly, warm, helpful folks and all with one aim - good music in all it's forms.
We have a publishing deal for one song, as a direct result of TAXI, and are talking record label deals at the moment. BUT the biggest and best for us was the many, many friends we made simply by being there.
Thanks for everything America and TAXI. Have a good Thanksgiving - you deserve it.
We'll be back - The Tonepoets - England, United Kingdom

Congratulations!!!

Same here! I met Mr. (we know who) at the Drive by Mentor sessions in 2008. Got signed right after that Rally and have had great success so far. Like the saying goes "You can't win if you don't play". In this industry, it's all about building relationships, networking and most of all just showing up when the opportunity is there. There's a reason why people who are already extremely successful in this business keep showing up. The Rally rocks!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I, too, was signed to this same wonderful group this year! And I didn't expect anything like that. Taxi was life-changing for a lot of reasons... such as meeting several of the people in this thread! I will definitely be there next year!
