Just out of interest, if a track gets forwarded to a library but remains unsigned, what does the library do with that track?

Do they have a slush file where music just sits and gathers dust?
Do they bin unsigned tracks?
Do they keep all signed/unsigned tracks in their appropriate genre/mood files at their fingertips?

I have had lots of forwards, but no signings through Taxi yet, so just wondering if those tracks have been sucked into a sonorant black hole?

I would guess they review unsigned tracks when they have a need for that particular genre/style. There's no way of knowing what happens their end. The project they needed tracks for might have fallen through. They may listen and consider forwarded tracks and pick just a couple for their needs. Although a track was forwarded, it may not quite be what they wanted or their needs have changed. It pays to remember a forward from TAXI is only the first step. After that the track is auditioned and compared to other similar tracks.

We can't really know what's going to happen after our track gets to a library. All we can do is keep composing and submitting, remembering forwards are a good sign we are on the right track and it's just a matter of time... hence the 'write, submit, forget, repeat' mantra of the TAXI community.

A forward just means that someone at a library will listen to it. It doesn't mean the will accept it. If they do, they have to contact you and paperwork gets filled out. If you were forwarded to an Exclusive library, my advice is to just forget about it for a few months. Maybe after six months if you've not heard back you can submit it to someone else. Personally, I give libraries three months before sending exclusive forwards on to other libraries. If a library calls me back after I've done that, I just let them know that the track has found a new home but that I can send them one just like it in a day or two if they are truly interested. They understand.... and have plenty of other resources to go to if their procrastination led to a music emergency.

There is also the possibility that they take your track and that it doesn’t sell in the library. Your contract should specify if you get the song back after an amount of time - or if you never get it back. Reversion vs. perpetuity.

This makes me think of a witty comment from a ways back.
