Wallander Instruments - is anyone using them?

I did some tracks with Wallander's trumpet demo that ended up on a record. (shhhhh, don't tell nobody)

You may find the samplemodeling stuff more useful; I couldn't find a way to turn off the "room" built into Wallander's offering, though there are plenty of options available within the given room, including instruments "behind" the listener. (the full version may include some stuff I would have liked to see)

They seem awful expensive. I guess it depends on what type of instruments you need, orchestra or pop. I bought the brass 2 with an akai ewi breath controller. I've got a "room" in brass, but I am starting to think that reverb(and effects) and a wind controller (articulations) probably have much to do with the sound you get whichever the program you decide. I have made a couple clips to show, some dry riffs in the program, and with effects, and also an akai ewi breath controller. I need to qualify these,lol, I don't play horn, and these aren't to say how well this instrument sounds but only the difference between dry and wet samples and the akai is a once through, not edited, it's by no means a song, only meant to demonstrate some articulations by a non-horn or practiced player. I didn't fade the reverb tails out in the wet riff presets so you have to use your imagination. I only used 1 reverb setting, so different reverbs will have a different effect. I wanted to just give a quick demo, not spend a week doing this,lol!

Yes Rob, I am discovering that sample modeling is quite promising and perhaps still in it's infancy. The saxaphone in this program doesn't seem as good as the trumpet and trombone, but I'm thinking that reverb has a huge influence in the horns sounding realistic along with the sort of articulation or degree of expression one can achieve with a breath controller. I had a garritan personal orchestra
that I thought was way cheesy, but the gpo that comes bundled with the akai can sound very realistic on some of the sounds like the clarinet. I am thinking that is probably why these programs come with rooms. I'm not sure it's possible to disconnect the room in brass either, but it seems like you can just pile the reverb over the room reverb. I have played around and made some vst expression maps in cubase, but it doesn't seem like the articulations make but very little difference, but maybe the purpose for that is with programs that have keyswitching. I know the premade vst expression maps are only made specifically for a few products currently.
