Re: Waves SSL E-Channel Strip $29 SALE
Thanks for the heads up, I snagged it! I am still learning a lot about production techniques, this looks like it can do quite a bit - do you have any favorite uses for it? Or have you found anything that you use it for the most? Unless I'm mistaken it looks like it can be used for several different things

Mark you can use this for just about anything. It really is a great versatile channel strip. you can throw it on every channel if you want, to get the ssl mixing feel. Pretty sure there's a bunch of YT vids of ppl mixing using just ssl plugs.markhimley wrote:Thanks for the heads up, I snagged it! Re: Waves SSL E-Channel Strip $29 SALE
I'm so VERY HAPPY with the SSL E Channel Strip! Thanks for the tip Marcus. I've often been fooled by hype, then after buying and trying things I've thought, well, its OK but I'm not blown away. This time - I AM blown away! What a sweet sounding but powerful EQ and handy compressor. I'd got into the habit of using Fab Filter Pro Q2 for much of my EQ work, and that certainly has its place, but there's so much joy in having that channel strip adding its own 'sound' and being able to tweak sounds WITHOUT being lead by a graphical display. Yesterday, just for fun, I slapped the strip on every track of a mix and the two-bus too, then mixed with nothing else. I was very happy with the result and I had fun (like it should be)! With so much technology at out fingertips these days its easy to forget that this is just about all you need. No wonder so much great music was made using it (in hardware form).
$29 for as many channels as you desire? Fantastic!

That's awesome Graham! So glad you are happy with the purchase. It is quite the workhorse.
Waves is going crazy on sales right now. So probably worth checking out if anyone has any of those bucket list waves plugs now is the time. Sale is berserk compared to their regular prices.

Plugs I recommend and use a lot:
API2500 (whole API collection is $101 down from $600)- http://www.waves.com/plugins/api-2500
CLA2A (both CLA series/classic are great)- http://www.waves.com/plugins/cla-2a-compressor-limiter
NLS Non Linear Summer - http://www.waves.com/plugins/nls-non-linear-summer
RBass - http://www.waves.com/plugins/renaissance-bass
RVox (both $25) - http://www.waves.com/plugins/renaissance-vox

Re: Waves SSL E-Channel Strip $29 SALE
Forgot to thank you for the heads up on this Marcus, but thanks! I saw your post, and grabbed it for $29. I've been using the UA version of this SSL strip for a few years, but I often times run out of UA processing power. For what it's worth, to my ears, this Waves version sounds every bit as good as the UA version.

Clicked on this, and it looks like it's now only available in the bundle. Sad trombone.

Check back in November; see if the bundle goes on sale. It's way worth it to have the channel strip and both compressors. According to a lot of my mixer friends, the SSL G Bus Compressor is the 'make it sound like a record' compressor.

Yea mojo the SSL bus comp is pretty sweet. For a long time I switched off between the ssl bus comp and the api2500 on my 2buss. Always did the job very nicely.mojobone wrote:According to a lot of my mixer friends, the SSL G Bus Compressor is the 'make it sound like a record' compressor.
As a side note, the ONLY 2buss comp I use now is Cytomic's The Glue. Its an SSL emu but imo it sounds better than the waves ssl bus. And it has a mix knob
https://cytomic.com/glue - Pretty sure demo is fully functional so you can try for yourself

Re: Waves SSL E-Channel Strip $29 SALE
I tried the demo of 'The Glue' and it sure is nice! I don't have the SSL G to compare but I do like this one. The demo won't store settings, won't automate, and puts a 'nag' up every so often, but is otherwise OK to use. Do I need another compressor? Probably not but this one's on my 'get it the next time its on sale' list (even though its only $99 full price). Thanks again for another great gear tip MarcusAs a side note, the ONLY 2buss comp I use now is Cytomic's The Glue. Its an SSL emu but imo it sounds better than the waves ssl bus.
