Edited_Just got the email that the commercial is a go! Still not allowed to share a link (haven't even seen the final cut) but will share a youtube link as soon as the spot goes live. Definitely worth the extra time I spent re-recording and editing!!~ Thanks ML and TAXI for the training!

Hey TAXI family!

In August I will have been a TAXI member for 6 years and I try to chronicle my journey every now and then. Thank you to Michael, Liz and Matt and all the screeners for their encouragement. I have learned so much through TAXI TV, the custom critiques, forwards and yes the many rejections I've received. And thanks to the Forums members!! Always honest and helpful.

So in 2016 at the RR I met a writer from Nashville (had to go to LA to meet a homeboy lol) who suggested a library to send stuff to. Long story short I wrote a 13 song collection of indie folk w (some electronic elements) w female vocals for that library in 2017. The songs have been placed (small/medium placements) mostly in Japan.

Well that library emailed yesterday and said a company in the northeast (Regional but they have 5000 employees) wants to use one of my songs for tv, internet and radio. They actually sent me the ad with my song cut in and it's one of the coolest feelings I've ever had! They also want to build an entire campaign and series of ads around my collection.

Now the interesting part- They wanted me to recreate the fully produced edited version (that was cut-in to the ad) on a simple Ukulele, and then edit the female vocal to match the edit points. I've never even tried that before but I had a conf call with the library and ad agency this am to clarify and I re-recorded my parts and got everything off to the client today.

Fingers crossed that it goes through coz you know there's often something at the last minute ;) . And hey if it doesn't pan out it was still a great learning experience and I'll be a better producer for it.
Anyway I'll keep you posted and wish I could add the song here but not allowed to just yet.

Fingers crossed! John

That is great news, gotta love those emails. It sounds like you did a bit of film scoring work to make the track fit.

Good luck JP

Thanks Andre! Yes a wee little bit lol. The trick was to copy the edit points (which were unique) but make it make sense musically. Sure glad I bought that ukulele at Sweetwater last week!!

Thanks Peter! And yes a really good opportunity. It’s interesting that after all the time and tracks that went into the original version, it comes down to a single uke, no fx, no perc and a single vocal with no fx! ;)

Hey Cass thanks!
You’re right! It’s one thing to dream about it, and hope you can do it and then when it happens it feels crazy!
I’m thankful for the chance and the training I got through being flogged by the screeners 😉😂.

The ad is not a done deal yet but man that would be awesome.. Thanks again. Best, John
