What Are You Doing Tonight ©2018 Robert George BMI
What are you doing tonight
There’s an old revival theater out by Rucker Mall
And it’s playing something starring Bogey and Bacall
We can stop by CVS and grab some Hershey Bars
Watch the silver screen back when it shined with golden stars
What are you doing tonight
There’s a sidewalk pub near there that has an Irish band
We can down a pint or two and then I’ll take your hand
Then we’ll circle ‘round the fiddler under cheering skies
Though I’ve got two left feet the truest waltz is in the eyes
And lonely hearts
Have only loneliness to lose
We’ve been friends now
Since I spilled a root beer on your dress when we were seventeen
Yet here somehow
You’ve become a dazzling color in an old familiar dream
And lonely hearts
Have only loneliness to lose
So what are you doing tonight
We could go where distant clouds are Origami boats
And our hearts can follow them wherever they may float
There’s a handmade swing beneath a hillside maple tree
And that view looks like the back porch of eternity
O we’ve been friends now
Since I spilled a root beer on your dress when we were seventeen
But what are you doing tonight
What are you doing tonight…
