Hi Anna:

Thanks for this post. It prompted me to create a list of goals rather than vague wishes.
Anyway, my goals are as follows:

Write/Produce
150 completed Cues/Instros (solo & collaborations)
50 completed songs (solo & collaborations)

Improve Studio Skills Set
Allocate additional time in January and June to digging deeper into DAW and associated software
Learn more about Electronic Music production values and related sub genres of EDM
Continue to upgrade my sample libraries.

Wish you the very best in 2019!
Those are some big goals! Best of luck with them all - can't wait to hear the results. Especially like your studio skill set goals... that's a good idea!

Make 100 cues and sign them all with good libraries ( made 88 this year and signed 101 )

Nicely done! I'm sure you'll succeed based on all those placements you've been getting recently!

You did not - but I'm adding it to my list!! Thank you :) I've read a handful of books in that area but not that one yet. The first one that got me hooked was "The Power of Habit", that one rocked my world. I just finished up another amazing one, "Atomic Habits". That one too is quite the game changer. Already seeing some great results.

Looking forward to 2019 and seeing everyone's successes!
Nice, thanks for these! Will add em to the list. (The One Thing is also v good if you haven't read it already!)

Hi, Anna!
My goals? Write music every day, expand my catalog, three submissions a week, and start getting placements!
Hope everybody can make their goals in 2019!

Nice, Ed! That first one is a winner for sure... best of luck to you this year!

My performance schedule is slower in January and June, so I'm using that time to work on studio skills. I bought a 30 day pass for Groove 3. It has been a great value especially with helping me understand EDM production techniques.

The cue/instro production schedule (150/year) was designed so that I did not have time to overthink, overwrite and overproduce. Unfortunate I have a tendency to do all three. ;) To create that volume, I no longer have time to indulge myself.

Lastly, the song production schedule (50/year) is a big reach. The key for me is to collaboration with others and not to spend so much time and effort working alone.
Onward and upward!

For me that would be improving my workflow...anything from organising my favourite presets, creating better templates, learning more keyboard shortcuts in my DAW, trying to commit to a sound and properly edit stuff as early as possible (as opposed to 'let's fix that later') asf.

Haha nice. I have the opposite problem... get too caught up in the editing stages rather than just getting the main thing done. Something I'm working on!
@Anna: I know what you mean :) I always try to further improve the 'songwriting' right until the last moment and frequently end up with too little time for production (the ear candy stuff etc.). I now want to trick myself by arranging the music more efficiently as I go along to not sit there just with a click, a vocal and a piano track -one our prior to the submission deadline :D

Hi all,

What are your musical goals/dreams for 2019?

For me - working towards finishing my next piano album, getting stuck back into songs instead of instrumentals, and hopefully pulling together an alt-pop EP. Maybe a collaboration or two, who knows. Will still be plugging away at the occasional cue, but those first goals are my focus!

What about you?

Can't wait to hearrrr 8-)
Hi Anna

I'd like to finish all the songs I've been working on with the info I'm learning here. Lot's of new insight to apply to old ideas. Going into the studio in February to record some new finished material . Then hoping to get my material out there. Also looking forward to connecting more with all of you here on this forum

Best

Hi Anna!

Getting one of my forwards to follow through with an offer is definitely on the list for this year. But that's more rolled into "Write Submit Forget Repeat" as much as possible.

However, more specifically, I would have to go with doing more collaborations. I've already done one so far and it pushed me into a style I had not considered before!

Hope 2019 is the year for your musical goals!

Tom
