What's in a title?

Post by Susanstunes » Sun Oct 09, 2022 7:31 am

Hi everyone
I think I got this placement from the title.
Track is called "Ancient Breath of the Pyramids". It aired the other day on France TV 2 Lifestyle Magazine Show 'Meteo ala Carte' where they were promoting weekend ideas around France. My music started as they were showcasing a gorgeous tourist attraction - then continued through the museum segment at the King Tut exhibit.
The music works, with the seductive synths, harp and Bendhir drum...
So....they might have picked it anyway but with that title I'm thinking it probably grabbed their attention.

Simple answer: Absolutely: like the saying goes, "You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression."
If your title grabbed their attention - then you succeeded as early into it as possible.
The rest followed: congrats and well done!
"Sweet success!"

Wow, you matched all three - your cue title, the cue itself and the subject matter of the show. It's like it was meant to be. Congratulations!

Yes, titles ABSOLUTELY matter. Your title should capture the mood of the music, or be applicable to the genre or the show if possible. Many of my titles are based on stuff going on around my house the time I bounce the track. For example, I did a blues track a while back (forwarded) called "Messy Garage Blues." This weekend I did some Asian hip hop and one of the tracks is titled "Late Night Shinkansen" (the name of the bullet train in Tokyo). Others include some sad piano "Dont Go Away", a Dramedy track called "You Did Not"and a meditation track named "Below The Surface."

I've learned that punctuation does not go well in song titles, it can mess up metadata forms or naming conventions online. So, I avoid them when possible.

Congratulations Susan!
Titles truly can make the difference, when those in charge look for the right pieces of music to be used, so you really nailed it in this particular case

Nice to see this confirmed! Absolutely agreed on the value of titles. From what I've seen, video editors are often grouping tracks by genre in their bay and only have a title to go on. You have to imagine it plays a factor!

Congratulations, you’re right, the title and the waveform are the first things supervisors look at. So to speak the keys to unlock the placement door.
