Where am I going wrong?
EDIT:
Pasted a link to the reworking of Get Real. Leaving the old one up too for context.
Having a series of returns.
I'm not finding the screener feedback helpful. Things like 'needs development' or 'improve the mix' are just too vague to be of any use, even if they're true.
Anyone with opinions of where these songs are failing I'd love to hear from you. Are the lyrics weak? Production or mixing weaknesses? Boring melodies, bad form? Bring it on! I can take it! Interested in improving.
Here's a couple:
RnB with retro vibes:
OLD
https://www.taxi.com/members/v_gza45jSe ... eal-v-2 my
NEW
https://www.taxi.com/members/v_gza45jSe ... ey-real-v3
English language K-Pop:

Thanks guys!

Re: Where am I going wrong?
Well, the first thing you're doing wrong is we can't hear them..
Seriously, I got the dreaded 404 Error, can't find what you're looking for page...
So make sure that your profile is public, the songs are public, and that you link correctly (I think the link button in the toolbar in the posting window is the one that works... I think..)
Yes, it is incredibly frustrating to get those comments. For me, the "needs more development" one is very infuriating. I have even gotten that one when the brief called for minimalism with light melody... What I do in those cases is just get angry and let myself cool off when I get the return. Then the next day, I'll go back, listen again, and re-read the comments. Many times after this cooling off period, I agree with the screener. Usually, I can see where they are coming from. Sometimes, I can't. Sometimes, I disagree. Usually, I'll reload the project and try to address whatever they mentioned as best I can (vague though it may be...) And If I can't think of anything to change, the piece stays as it is... And you know what, later when I submit to a different listing, sometimes it's forwarded. If I really think it's a good piece, eventually, it 99% of the time gets signed.
Now, in terms of the mix, that technical stuff is usually easier to address, unless you're doing something creatively and more experimental with the mix. That's the science part, and it's just a matter of trial and error. The creative stuff (the song) is more difficult to fine tune, at least in my experience.
The point is to keep going. Keep working on it, and do try to take what you're getting constructively... Your string of returns will soon be snapped!
All the best,
Mark

Re: Where am I going wrong?
Hi!
I've been a Taxi member for quite some time now and the screeners feedback has helped me tremendously. I have noticed though, once I have one thing good to go there's something else to work on. Like once I got making the chorus stand out better they started to point out my mixes not being so good so sometimes its just a process but as you adhere to what they're saying it gets better. As far as vague comments like "mix could be better" I'd reach out to the head screener and see if he can give you an in depth perspective he's friendly:) I did listen to your song "Get Real" The vocals were good and I enjoyed the mixed I do believe the chorus could be stronger I heard "Get real" mentioned once in the first chorus maybe adding it in more could make the chorus stronger. Otherwise, great work and many, many blessings!

Thanks ddensmore1, that's good feedback, and thanks for your kind words.
I'll listen to see if a few more 'Get Reals' could help the chorus and will also reach out to the Head Screener - I didn't know you could do that!

Re: Where am I going wrong?
I listened to the R&B tune, not really my wheelhouse but to my ear the verse is super groovy and cool, when the horns come in during the chorus i feel like the groove suffers, my ear gets confused and has trouble finding something to grab onto, if that makes sense, like the horns and the bass and the vocals are all competing with eachother. I think you're close, sonically sounds great!
Hope that helps!

Thanks EO. I hate to agree, because that brass took a lot of work! But you're right. Gotta tone it down. Maybe just a few tasteful stabs that don't get in the way.
Thank you for your fresh perspective. Very much appreciated!
