I have just recently started submitting to some listings.. mostly the recent "Instrumental Percussive" type ones ...(S231230PC and S231228MZ and S240113UP and S240116CJ - for example)...
I have noticed that almost all of the so called "Instrumental Only" listings reference tracks all have vocals in them - but then - below the reference tracks - it says:
"Although some of the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this request"... OR:
"Although the references may have some vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch. Some non-lyrical vocals like "ahs," "woahs," etc., are okay to include – just don't overdo them!"...
Why do they choose references that have vocals - if they do not want vocals??...
I am Confused!!
Why do most "Instrumental" references have vocals???

Beacuse the client wants the same vibe or style of music underneath, and it is often hard to find instrumental-only versions in many genres. Sometimes I'll search for karaoke versions of the references tomake it easier to hear what's going on.
