World Music forward

Post by mikehamm123 » Wed Jun 26, 2019 6:32 pm

Was happy they forwarded this:

Was also happy they forgave the annoying sample artifacts I didn't discover until I mixed it just before the deadline :o

------

A Lot of TRADITIONAL WORLD INSTRUMENTALS and INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by an International Music Library looking for a wide range of styles.
They’re on the hunt for authentic-sounding, traditional World Music Cues in All Tempos that sound like they’ve come from places like (but not limited to) China, Japan, France, India, Latin America, Paris, Africa, the Middle East, etc, etc., etc.
NOTE: This request is pretty wide-ranging, as they’re looking for a lot of material for their ever-expanding client base. Having said that, we don’t think Cues from really obscure places will be all that appealing to them. Save the Transylvanian Cues for another day! ;)
Your compositions can range from stripped-down, single instrument Instrumentals and Cues (ie. a Middle Eastern flute piece) to small ensembles (ie. a Mariachi band) to a full-blown production like what you might hear in a Bollywood film.
Authenticity in the sounds, instrumentation, performances, and style are all very important for this pitch. Music that sounds obviously MIDI-driven or synthetic won’t make the grade for this request.

Congrats on the forward.

To be honest - I'm just the tiniest bit surprised that - to my Old Guy ears - it sounds like a keyboard/synth violin.

BUT - since to the screener it clearly fit the listing & the clients' taste - I'm guessing that the style/genre of world music has that kind of tonality - and your articulation was appropriate.
So - all that to rePete: WTG, Mike! - you met the criteria; which is key: the screener thought it was THE RIGHT piece.

Again - congrats, and good luck on the placement.

Thanks P.

Yes, I hear you. Its def not the same as having a real violinist.

I think an important feature is that I wrote it without a click track or quantizing, so it 'breathes' a bit.

Mike,
That is really beautiful. You played it so well I don't know that it matters much....about midi.
Congrats!

Thanks everyone.

This was mostly an improv when I had a new violin sample and was exploring a new mode. Probably the most fruitful 'session' I've ever done, so happy I recorded it digitally.

Sometimes the muse deploys and you have something, no effort...
