Writing for Oprah!
Hi Everyone-I'm happy to report that I've joined the ranks of matto, Dave Walton, and John Mazzei as part of a team of composers writing for the Oprah Winfrey show. This gig actually came through a couple months ago and I was going to keep a low profile about it...but with all the discouraging talk around the forums lately I thought I'd share some good news and hopefully add a little fuel to anyone's fire who needs it.This opportunity came entirely from a demo I submitted for a Taxi listing, so it can be done! Thanks to matto and Dave for the guidance along the way.Andre

Excellent news, old stick. Can you point the way to the track/s that turned the trick for you?

Re: Writing for Oprah!
Thanks everyone! Here's the original listing:Quote:Film/TV/Video GamesTAXI # D061013TVThe Music Supervisor for a popular daytime talk show [which airs primetime specials as well] needs to hire a couple new INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSERS as soon as possible. He hired 6 TAXI writers/composers in 2005 and the the situation has worked out quite nicely -- they’ve had over 200 placements on this show in the last year. Earlier this year, he hired 3 more TAXI writers/composers. Now he’s seeking more talented TV composers for his staff. He needs someone who can write Happy, Sad, Mysterious, and Suspenseful instrumentals as background music for the show’s stories, profiles, and vignettes. To be considered, he wants to hear your very best piano-led and orchestrated instrumental tracks. He mentioned that typical symphonic/orchestral instrumentation is fine -- violin, viola, cello, French horns, etc. He DOES NOT want guitar-led tracks, or styles that incorporate Electronica, Hip Hop, Country, Rock, R&B, etc., etc. He wants someone with experience scoring and sync-ing to film/TV and who has high speed internet service at home/studio. If you don’t, do not submit. He prefers to work with composers who live in the United States, but is open to consider those from overseas for this project. And...you MUST be a TEAM PLAYER. He is not interested in someone who has a huge ego and will be difficult to work with. Since your TAXI submissions will not be used for the show [if chosen, you will instead write original pieces], Demo Quality is OK, but Master Quality is preferred -- he wants to hear what you can do. Please submit one to three pieces online or per CD, include your bio. Instrumental Montages are also OK for this listing [keep them to about 5:00 minutes in length, if possible]. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. As always, we will notify everyone via e-mail, whether your submissions have been Forwarded or Returned. Submissions must be received no later than 4:00 pm Pacific Standard Time (California time), Friday, Oct. 13, 2006. TAXI # D061013TV...and here are the tracks I submitted for it:http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/transmi....496&yhgbn dsq=3[I'm having trouble getting this link copied correctly; copy and paste it into your browser and remove the space before "sq=3" at the very end.]I had these pieces in my library from previous projects, so although they weren't a perfect match I though it'd be worth a shot. As matto pointed out, they're probably not quite even enough in emotional tone for the show - but since they were strictly for demo purposes in this case they apparently still made the grade.Andre

Maybe I am blind but I do not see sq=3 in that address. I do not even see a space.
