YACHT ROCK?! nope - this one sunk
Was it really necessary to blur & bend the genre lines even more than they already are?
Sorry to sound like Mr. Whiney - but jeepers...
would this track be even remotely close "stylistically fit the vibe and style of the references..." ?
(NOTE: please submit photocopy of your most recent Grammy Award)
Are You Mine

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORIGINAL YACHT ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a hard-working, high-quality, boutique-sized Production Music Library that’s already had successful placements with TAXI members’ music. They’re looking for authentic, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs (Vintage or Contemporary Recordings can both work) that might work on a playlist alongside these references (provided by the Music Library:)
“Biggest Part Of Me” by Ambrosia
“I'd Really Love To See You Tonight” by England Dan and John Ford Coley
“Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffet
“I Keep Forgettin” by Michael McDonald
“Heart To Heart” by Kenny Loggins
NOTE: They are looking for songs and performances where the singer really gets the genre and sounds spot on to that era and style and is not just a “good” singer. This is a very unique genre and there is a certain sensibility that is needed for it to come across well.
Please submit authentic-sounding Yacht Rock songs that would stylistically fit the vibe and style of the references above and others like them. Your submissions should have a genuine Yacht Rock style, with solid musicianship and a compelling chorus. Recently recorded songs or old vintage master recordings can both work for this pitch. The more authentic-sounding, the better!
They didn’t specify any lyric themes, however, lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity are strongly recommended. Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Re: YACHT ROCK?!
Peter,
Are You Mine fits the Yacht Rock category for me, and really nice job on the tune. I think you are in the running for that one. The other one sounds too country for the Yacht to me.
Best,
Vince

Thanks for the ears & encouraging comment, Vince. I've not had any songs that were 'the right song' for any of the listings to which I've submitted...nicotina wrote:Peter,

which aren't that many - less than 20. And the one & only forward was for an instrumental cue/mix created from a collaborative song effort.
Go figure.
I guess it was compelling enough by marginal standards.
Maybe I'll pop the 5-er for my collab with Mr. Dodds... and see if it sails through!
Cheers.

I honestly don't know if we are coming or not. Our plate is pretty full with caring for aging parents. The best that I can say is "maybe".Thanks for the listen & encouraging words, Amigo.

Are You Mine
https://soundcloud.com/funsongs-1/are-y ... ite7-24-17
was NOT the right fit for the Yacht Rock listing.
Write, submit, do that other thing, then go write some more...
something like that: I forget.
