Year 1 Stats!
Hi Guys
Before I became a member I spent a lot a time thinking about whether to sign up for Taxi or not. I did a lot of looking around for other members stats to see what kind of forward rate/success rate people had, as I had no idea what to expect. Now I have come to the end of my first year with Taxi, I thought I would do a post with my year 1 stats so new members and anyone interested can see.
First a little about me. I have been writing and recording music for about 15 or so years. I've performed music for a good 28 years or thereabouts years (since I was quite young basically), but I've never really made a go of the writing and recording side of it till now.
To put my year in context; for the first 9 months of my first year of membership I was writing, recording and submitting 2 days a week. For the last 3 months of the first year I was doing it 4 days a week. I write songs and cues in all different styles from traditional country and chill out jazz to heavy metal. I also sing and play all the instruments myself.
So here are the stats:
Year 1 - Total Number of Forwards: 53
(9 Songs and 44 cues)
From these forwards, so far I have been contacted by 3 music libraries who between them have offered me contracts for 27 cues! Two of them contacted me within a month of submission, one contacted me about 8 months after submission. So far nothing has been placed or sync'd but I am aware that the process can be quite lengthy and this doesn't mean my tunes from year 1 will never be sync'd, it may just take time for them to get to their final destination. This is where the Taxi mantra 'write, submit, forget, repeat' comes in!
I think it's definitely worth signing up for Taxi. For me the key to more forwards has been keeping an open mind and having a willingness to learn. The screener’s advice has generally been really constructive, meaning I could go back and tweak the songs/cues that aren't quite right and also, to get it right first time-next time! Taxi TV and the forums are good resources too. It's reassuring to work with a company like Taxi who support their composers in the way that they do.
With that in mind, I am really looking forward to my first Road Rally this year! I'm hoping to learn lots. It's going to be pretty mad as I'm traveling all the way from the UK, so if you see me there say hi!
Anyway, I hope this helps someone or is at least a little bit interesting!
Hopefully see you at the rally!
Chris

Hello Chris - from the looky-loo Peanut Gallery - congrats on the good report and best wishes for safe travel & arrival in Los Angeles for the rally.
If you are able - creating a photo avatar & including signature or links to your TAXI homepage and/or other places you post your music (?)
would be helpful in knowing your identity & hearing your productions.
CHEERS - see you in L.A.

Re: Year 1 Stats!
Thanks for the kind comments guys! Very much appreciated.
Funsongs-great suggestions. I've managed to get the signature up and running. There are quite a lot of my songs and cues on my website most of which have been Taxi forwards (still working on the website!) The profile avatar is another thing altogether, I'm having trouble with uploading that so I've just messaged admin and am waiting back. Talking of links I checked out yours and I really enjoyed your country songs! Great work!

That's a great number of forwards for your first year. Your music sounds really good and fitting for this market. Congrats and you should be doing well as time goes on.

Re: Year 1 Stats!
Congrats on the forwards and signings Chris! Not too shabby for year one .
I agree with you, just keep writing and the placements will come.
On a side note the avatar issue is one I have too. I just can’t seem to take a photo down to the resolution required. Oh well..
Good luck on your writing/producing and hope to see you at the Rally.
Best, John

that truly is quite a year, and even more impressive as a first one. Congratulations indeed.
