1/2 Forwarded for ROMANTIC COMEDY INSTRUMENTALS -- My first!
Hi All,
Just wanted to share... I got my first forward today for 1/2 tracks I submitted!
http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... nstarMusic
The forward was "Happy Go Lucky".
The return was "Someone to Adore."
Based on the explanations provided to by the auditioner on the review sheet, I completely understand why #2 wasn't forwarded. It makes perfect sense. If anyone has any doubts if the staff really "listen" to your material, the detail is proof they do.
Yay! Ok back to work on the auto-giant thing (the long shot hah)
D101229RI
ROMANTIC COMEDY INSTRUMENTALS needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher for the purpose of Film/TV placements and licensing. This company has signed and placed dozen of TAXI songs, and offers an exclusive deal. They are specifically looking for situation comedy instrumentals, not slapstick instrumentals. Tracks submitted should be lighthearted and fun. Please, no quirky instrumentals! Broadcast quality needed [excellent-sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI and must be received no later than Noon (PST) on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. TAXI #D101229RI

Great news! Congratulations! I submitted to that listing but didn't get forwarded. No problem though, the same pieces got picked up on another listing! Keep up the good work!

Congratulations Victor! Delightful music. I could definitely hear Someone to Adore in a Romantic Comedy, but that is not what the listing asked for. Still, it's one you should keep for a future listing.
Best of luck,
Vince

Congratulations Victor!
Lovely piece - it would fit right into a movie!
I had three in for that, no forwards. I was confused about "Romantic Comedy" title and further in the listing "Situation comedy" - wasn't sure quite what they were looking for, so it's interesting to hear what made it through.
Good luck!

Congrats!!!! Great sounding tunes. What are the drums on those tracks? Real or midi? They sound fantastic! I thought "Someone to Adore" was just as good as the first. Great production.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks everyone!
I also had the same confusion about sit-com (very light-hearted ) vs. romantic comedy (warmer). Fortunately, I happened to have existing pieces that I felt may be suitable for both and even more fortunately -- one of them just happened to resonate with the listener.
I'm a software guy and I'm starting to view these listings like functional specifications.
A client wants a program to perform a specific function and they send me a spec. I print out the spec. They only know what they want and they may vaguely know what other competing applications do (a-las) and they may also have difficulty communicating what they want it to do (descriptors), so they list a few a-las and words that are ball-park.
Then I gotta read the spec like 5 times to understand what's obviously stated and as important what's implied. Then look for possible inconsistencies in the specifications and try to get clarification (from TAXI). After all that, it's either try to use pre-existing music (code) or develop a new song if I have time!
That sounds so not sexy but it's the only way I can muddle through it.
Yes those are real drums. A lot of my tracks use MIDI drums but those two are real.
Peace!

Hey Vic,
I finally had a chance to sit down and listen to both pieces. Very nice work. I'm surprised "Someone to Adore" wasn't forwarded too. Keep in mind that, if the library is interested in the forwarded song, they'll likely say, "Do you have anything else that's similar?" Keep writing and submitting!
