2 MORE CCM FORWARDS!!!!
OK, this one has a "story" to go with it, but first, here's the listing:CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN SONGS are needed by a Major Label and multiple award-winning female artist. Songs needed are contemporary praise and worship songs that are artist-driven as opposed to congregational sing-a-alongs. Song references are Tim Hughes “God of Justice,” Casting Crowns “Praise You In the Storm,” and artistically think Hillsong United. They are looking for a big impact in the lyrics, along with honesty and vulnerability. This artist pushes boundaries vocally so melodies need to be interesting enough to support a big vocal performance. Remember to think Adult AC/POP and not R&B. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. Demo quality is OK for this listing. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than Noon (PST) Monday, February 23, 2009. TAXI #D090223CCHere are the songs:You Came - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... m=trueEven While We Sleep - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueIf those links don't work, you can hear them on my profile page at http://www.taxi.com/barryfrenchOk, now for the story...On Monday, I got my listing results email for these two songs. They were both returned. The feedback on them however was positive but both of them had "other" as the reason selected. I've had quite a few returns so far this year so I just let it go, held my head up high and went back to work. Then today I got a phone call as I was driving home from the "other job." I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voice mail. Upon listening to the message, I found out that the call was from the screener that screened these songs. So at this point I'm a bit confused. When I got home tonight, I checked my email and had a message from one of the TAXI staff members. They explained to me that the listing party for this dispatch listing had also been the screener for this listing. They contacted TAXI today expressing an interest in my songs. TAXI sent them my info and the return got turned into a forward! After that I actually spoke to the listing company for about 20 minutes. We had a great conversation and they requested to hear more material!!!! So I just finished sending them an email with some more material. The screener said that she just kept thinking back to our song "You Came" and wanted to hear it again. She said she's gonna listen to it again and then decide on whether or not she's gonna submit it directly to her artist! Needless to say, I'M PRETTY STOKED ABOUT THIS!!!!! I called Joel to share the great news with him and he's ecstatic about it too! For those of you who don't know who Joel is, he's my best friend (other than my wife of course ) and the co-writer on all of the Christian stuff I write, as well as a lot of the pop/rock stuff. We call ourselves Big Blue Shoes (his last name is Shoemake) and he does the vocals as well. I feel bad that he doesn't get to share all of the excitement on here. But if any of you are on myspace, send him a little congrats note or something at http://www.myspace.com/joelshoemake - I'm sure he'd appreciate it. I pass on any comments about the vocals to him all the time, but I'm sure it'd mean even more if he heard it directly from a total stranger Woo hoo!!! What a great day this has turned out to be! Now back to work on my Green Day track! lol- Big Blueps - for those of you who have met me, if you think I'm "big"... Joel is 6'8"... They really do grow 'em big in Texas
Imagine a steel cage match between Daughtry, Coldplay, Paramore and Demon Hunter with Joe Satriani as the referee...
