2 of CRIME Drama
Yup, I'm almost burnt out for the day after mixing down 3 tracks...Will be back few hours later to review other's music...So for now... all feedback welcometh...CRIMEinSUS1 + DNA Spawn:Tracks 3 & 4 onwww.taxi.comPeace,-Kel(Thank U Lydia for the violins on DNA Spawn) ^_^ Ur Awesome!!!CRIME DRAMA INSTRUMENTALS in the style of the underscore for such dramas as CSI and 24, are needed by an East Coast Music Publisher who has secured dozens of Film/TV placements for TAXI writers over the years. He is looking for mysterious and suspenseful styles that "must have a contemporary rhythm section". He'll be looking for shifts in tone, instrumentation and dynamics throughout each piece. He definitely does not want it as hyper-tempo as requested in listing # Y090512ID . He's open to any arrangement or instrumentation, as long as the tone is right. Excellent performances are absolutely necessary. He specifically said he wants to hear tracks that are :60 seconds in length. He doesn't want fadeouts, just clear endings. Broadcast quality is required [excellent-sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three compositions online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Monday, May 4, 2009.TAXI # Y090504CD

Re: 2 of CRIME Drama
I think both tracks are interesting and suspenseful.CRIMEinSUS1 doesn't seem to have the "shifts in tone, instrumentation, and dynamics" the listing requests. Although, when I checked out the music on these shows, I found that music sometimes doesn't have these shifts either. So, who knows?Cheers.

Re: 2 of CRIME Drama
Thanks Ceedub...Gathering feedback from the forums, no one really knew how much shifts they're looking for or how dramatic we should play so I figured that I'd send one with lots more shifts & the other with what we usually hear as BG music in CSI etc...I think we're all equally not too sure about this one ya... Appreciate the feedback.-K

Kel,I listened to DNA Spawn--did you post this previously? Sounds familiar. I like the strings a lot, but think you should retain more piano sound there as its a cool texture.Check your ending as you cut off the natural fade. You're a busy man--do you sleep? I'm wondering if you can make the November TAXI rally from Australia. Sure would be fun for all of us forumers to hang.Vince

Thanks Vince for always watching out for my tail end of songs... DNA Spawn is the mini 60s version of Evil Epic Tale... I think U've heard the previous Industrial version called Devil's Spawn...When I attain enough substantial deals I'd love to fly over & hang out with U all... someday soon yea!Appreciate the feedback..=Kel

Re: 2 of CRIME Drama
Funny, I, for one, favor "Crime." Instrumentals for tv dramas is not my specialty at all, so the grain of salt you take this with should perhaps be quite tiny. BUT when I hear this one I imagine certain scenarios(ie, a detective deep in thought about some troubling crime incident while he's driving on a freeway). The other is fine, but I predict results for this one! Great luck!

I liked both tracks, especially DNA Spawn. On the other track when the sound comes in after 0,35 it sounds a little sharp-edged to me but that's just what I think. Don't know if you've done it but, if you have opportunity, listen to it through your tv.

Yeah, DNA spawn is cool! I like the ending...good segway riff. It did drop a little abruptly at the end of the fade. Maybe smooth that out and/or extend a little? A very minor point but I'm thinking of how a sound editor might want to work with it. I like DNA slightly better than CrimeinSUS1 which of course means that CrimeinSUS1 will sell first!-Randy
